Students and Staff
Members of the Student Judicial Court will be meeting with Mr. Romanow in room 225 on Tuesday morning at 7:00 to receive the fact patterns for three "practice hearings." Please plan to attend this important meeting as we prepare to launch the Student Court.
Support the Cystic Fibrosis Association and enter your chance of winning great prizes by purchasing raffle tickets before and after school in the main office. Ticket prices are $1 each. Winners will be drawn live at Friday’s Riot Rally!
Are you interested in making decisions and choices that represent youth and influencing policy through active participation? The South Portland City Council needs you! The council is looking for 7 active youths in grades 9-11 to represent the voices of South Portland. Come to a meeting on January 29 from 7-8pm at the South Portland Community Center and learn more about how you can take part. (Pizza and refreshments will be served!)
GUIDANCE
Attention seniors applying to USM.......there is some very important and time sensitive scholarship information in the career center for students that have applied to attend USM this fall. Please be sure to stop by and pick up this important and time sensitive information.
Applications are now available for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference in the Guidance Office. This conference is for high school sophomores who have exhibited leadership in their school and community. Applications must be returned to Guidance no later than March 15th.
THE DEADLINE TO ADD/ DROP A CLASS FOR SEMESTER 2 IS JANUARY 31ST.
SEMESTER 2 STARTS TODAY!
Juniors who are nominated for the Early College for ME program should return the application form to the guidance office as soon as possible. See Mrs. Tremblay if you need another form or if you have questions.
ATHLETICS
There are no scheduled athletic events today. Tomorrow, the boys' and girls' basketball teams will return to action. The boys will play versus the Portland Bulldogs at the EXPO and the girls will host the Kennebunk Rams in the Beal Gym.

The Box office for DISNEY’S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is open.
Tickets are $8 for students and seniors, and $10 for adults.

CLUBS/ INTRAMURALS & GROUPS
Want to learn Chinese? Starting second semester, we will be offering a new extracurricular activity! Cindy Wang, our exchange student from Taiwan will be teaching us how to speak Mandarin Chinese. She will share lots of information about
the Chinese language, its culture and its history. All are invited! The first meeting will be held January 29, in room 111 at 2:00. Check it out!
The Next Spanish Club Meeting will be on Wednesday, January 30.
INTRAMURAL WEIGHT ROOM: The intramural weight room is now open on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday afternoons at 2:30.
Latin Club will meet on Tuesday, January 29 after school in room 113 to go over plans for the spring, enjoy Roman cuisine and do whatever else is on the agenda. Be there on time, we have a lot to do!
If you like Pizza and frivolity come to UNO’s on Wednesday the 20th of January and enjoy both of these passions! You’ll be supporting SPHS’s Swim and Dive Team! If you go to UNO’s (with the appropriate documentation) which can be found with any swimmer or diver or with Mr. Green in room 23. 20% of your bill will be donated to the aquatic sports
team!

Congratulations to senior debater John Soong!! John placed third in Saturday's 22-team state championship tournament in Brunswick.
