IT’S NATIONAL TEEN DATING ABUSE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION WEEK!
Did you know that 81% of parents either believe teen dating violence is not an issue or admit that they don't know if it is an issue. (all statistics were collected from the Family Crisis Services)

The Student Judicial Court will meet This morning in room 225 @ 7:00 AM to prepare for the beginning of the first Court session. We will review the disciplinary code, court procedures, and example case studies. Please see Mr. Romanow with any questions.

Any students or faculty members interested in participating in the South Portland Democratic caucus are invited to a meeting in room 233 at 2:00 on Tuesday, February 5. The caucus will be held in the SPHS gym this Sunday, February 10, at 1:00 PM. See Mr. Major, Mr. Jandreau, Mr. Small Jr. or Nick Wright for more information

The Legion of the Flaming Rose™ is pleased to announce the Fist Annual South Portland High School Student Film Festival. Enter and prove that you are the mightiest wielder of celluloid glory, whose art is rivaled in beauty only by the mournful cry of the wolf at night! Pick up rules and entry forms in the Video Production room. The deadline for submission is March 21st. The finalists will be chosen and screened in the auditorium on April 4th. For more information, see Mrs. York, Sean Esten, or George Murray.

Key Club-sponsored Polar Dip Staff Challenge: The challengers have stepped up and the race is on! Who do you want to see brave the waves at Pine Point Beach this weekend? Collection jars are in the Main Office. Stuff the jar of your choice and send that winning staff member to the cool waters of Pine Point Beach! Here are the challengers: Mr. Clifford, Mr. Inosencio, Mr. Lane, Mr. Major, Mr. Matoian. Between today and Friday, we'll be collecting donations. The teacher with the most money is his or her jar takes the plunge! All donations benefit Heifer International. Join the fun and benefit a great organization!

GUIDANCE

Attention seniors applying to USM.......there is some very important and time sensitive scholarship information in the career center for students that have applied to attend USM this fall. Please be sure to stop by and pick up this important and time sensitive information.

Applications are now available for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference in the Guidance Office. This conference is for high school sophomores who have exhibited leadership in their school and community. Applications must be returned to Guidance no later than March 15th.

Juniors who are nominated for the Early College for ME program should return the application form to the guidance office as soon as possible. See Mrs. Tremblay if you need another form or if you have questions.
ATHLETICS

The Boys and Girls Swim Teams will host the Windham Eagles at the Community Center Pool at 4:00 this afternoon.

Boys Basketball will travel to Deering High School today to face the Deering Rams - 4:00 First Team, 5:30 JV and 7:00 Varsity game times.

Girls Basketball will host the Deering Rams in the Beal Gym. Please celebrate senior night with the girls just before the 7:00 Varsity game. First Team will play at 4:00 and the JV's at 5:30.
Attention Girls Track Team: Reminder about the breakfast at 7:30 in lower cafe. Any girl not competing at the Festival of Champions, must turn in uniform by Friday. Raffle tickets are due this week.

MUSIC NOTES

A reminder to All State band students - bring in your form and $25 check made out to MMEA by end of the day today at the latest.

High School Musical will rehearse Weds. evening. Hold Thursday evening open as a possible rehearsal date.

Tickets are still available for the upcoming weekend for High School Musical. Don't delay. Sunday was a sell-out last weekend.

CLUBS/ INTRAMURALS & GROUPS

INTRAMURAL WEIGHT ROOM: The intramural weight room is now open on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday afternoons at 2:30.

Key Club: All members who are going to convention in March need to submit their two medical forms and registration fee no later than Friday, Feb. 8.

Spanish Club will be having its yearbook picture taken at 2 this coming Wednesday, Feb. 6. All club members please attend! Also, if you are interested in teaching Spanish to kindergartners on Tuesday after school, please come to Room 117 after pictures on Wednesday.

Attention French Club-we will be taking a group picture for the Yearbook on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 2:00 sharp. Please be on time and don't forget to wear your French Club t-shirt!

Latin Club yearbook picture will be taken Wednesday MORNING at 7:25 in room 113. It's early but it's quick. Be there on time!

Latin Club OFFICERS only will meet Tuesday (tomorrow) after school in room 113. You must be there - we have work to do.

Chinese Club News- we had a great turnout for our first meeting last week. We decided to meet every Tuesday in room 111 @ 2:00. If you missed the first one, please come to today’s meeting. Open to students and staff. Come check it out!

The History Club will meet after school on Thursday, February 7th.

Riot Reader members will be meeting right after school in room 108 on Wednesday after school to take the yearbook picture. See you then!

American Sign Language club members: PLEASE come to the lower cafe after school today so that we can have a picture taken....we will not be taking one tomorrow - Wednesday - so come today right after school!!!!

Project Graduation: The next project graduation meeting will take place on 2//13 at 6:30pm instead of 2/11. Please share this change with your parents or adults that you know that participate and volunteer on this committee.
