TODAY IS Red E Day
Students show your talents - THE SECOND ANNUAL STUDENT COFFEEHOUSE is Wednesday night March 19th at 6:30 in our cafeteria. There are 25 slots for performers so sign up ASAP in room 128 - Ms. Sears' room. If you can sign, dance, play an instrument, etc we want you to show your talents!!!
The fall show was tremendous so let's do it again this spring!!!!
Beginning March 10th, Key Club will be holding a fundraising campaign called "Pennies for Patients" to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which conducts research and supports patients afflicted with these blood cancers. We need your help! Containers will be set up in the main office and cafeteria, so please contribute any loose change you might have and help us reach our goal of $100. Thank you!

GUIDANCE
Attention seniors: are you or your parents having a difficult time filling out financial aid forms? Help is on the way!! On Thursday, March 13th from 3-6:30 we will have 2 financial aid professionals -one form Bowdoin, one from SMCC - here to assist you in filling out the forms. See Mrs. King in Guidance to schedule an appointment
Any junior interested in attending the Maine Day program at Bates College should see Mrs. King in the Guidance Office for specific details.
A representative from Rippleffect will be in Guidance on Thursday, March 13th from 12:30-1:30 to discuss Rippleffect's Youth Leadership Summit 2008. Two students will be selected and given a full scholarship valued at $1,500 each. THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE FOR CURRENT JUNIORS ONLY
The deadlline for RYLA applications is Friday, March 14th. Please return completed applications to the Guidance Office.
SCHOLARSHIP NEWS
The John L. Hawkes Scholarship Fund (selected by The Boys and Girls Club) is now available in the Scholarship Box. The deadline for this application is May 1st.
Seniors please be sure to pick up a copy of the Local Scholarship Application located in the Scholarship Box.

ATHLETICS
Joshua Howell, Chris Gorham, Isaac Johnson, Denny Junkins and Kevin Mooney need to report to the Athletic Office today.
A middle school swim meet versus Saco will be held at the Community Center pool today at 4:00. Mahoney and Memorial will both participate in meets at the EXPO on Saturday. Fans are appreciated at both these events.
All athletes planning to play a spring sport should check with the Athletic Office to make sure a valid physical and contract are on file.
Girls Outdoor Track & Field: There will be a sign-up meeting for all girls interested in joining the Outdoor Track & Field Team on Tuesday, March 11th @ 2 p.m. in Room 126. See Mr. Zinchuk, Ms. Reardon, or Mr. Lane if you have questions.
Anyone who missed the boys tennis meeting who would still like to play, please see Mr. Snow in room 211.
To all swimmers & divers, it is imperative that you bring $5 to Victoria or Joe for the coaches’ gift by the end of school on Friday, March 14th. Also, all senior swimmers and divers, please bring 1 senior portrait and 1 baby picture to Victoria or Joe as soon as possible! THANKS

Music Notes
Any student interested in auditioning for Chamber Singers 08-09 should see Ms. Hosic this week!
All Tri-M Music Honorary inductees will meet in Ms Hosic's room on Monday directly after school.
Select Vocal Ensemble will rehearse Monday and Tuesday after school in the Chorus room.
Clubs and Intramurals
SL honor society students...There will be a brief but important meeting this Friday after school for those students presenting at the honor society night next Tuesday March 11th in room 128 with Ms. Sears.
Come one Come all to South Portland High's first Break Dance battle Ever! Yes, Thats right, SPHS's very own Riot Control break dance club will be sponsoring a battle that will include students from 4 break dance "crews" and will be sure to be entertaining and fun. For $5 at the door your $ will be well spent.

MATH TEAM.........Final meet on March 12 @ Deering High School. Bus leaves at 2:30 pm. Please sign up in rm 224 for the experience of a lifetime. Topics include Algebraic Fractions with Factoring, Trigonometric Equations and Identities, Circles and Spheres, Conics, and Arithmetic with Statistics.
The NHS meeting scheduled for today has been rescheduled for next Thursday, March 13th.
Attention Break dance club members: Please bring your lollipop money to Ms Benfatta by tomorrow at the latest. Bring what you have even though you may not be done selling. thank you
Juniors...Juniors....There will be a junior class meeting next week Wednesday after school in room 129 - we need to plan spring fling....please come and support your class.
Lo, the time is now upon us. The Legion of the Flaming Rose would like to remind everyone that the dealine for entry into the film festival is March 21st. Students intending to submit a film should drop it off in the Video Production room along with a completed entry form. Take flight now, Children of Babylon, and help make this the mightiest film festival to ever grace the annals of recorded history.
The following ASL students have a MANDATORY meeting with Ms. Sears in room 128 this Friday after school - we will be doing final preparations for the MCL honor society ceremony - Molly Bogart, Kelly Chisholm, Tyler Esposito, Vanessa Foley, Kayla Ferrara, Manica Hing, Patricia Lusty, Katie Mortenson, and Casey Wallace.
Good Luck to the Drama Club as they compete in the Regional One-Act Festival this weekend at Falmouth H.S.
