Students do not miss the coffeehouse this Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30 in our very own lower cafe. Tickets are $5 at the door. We have 20 great acts including bands, dancing, singing, acting, and comedy. Come and support the talented students and staff we have at our great school.

Attention all seniors, cinnamon roll orders are due today to Ms. Major in room 121. All orders will need to be picked up Thursday (3/20) after school in the cafeteria.
Deadline for the Interact dodge ball tournament is tomorrow and games will begin on Wednesday at 3:30! Get your order forms and money into Ms.Major TODAY!

CAREER, TECHNICAL AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE: VIRTUAL FAIR
The Maine Department of Education will be hosting a Career, Technical and Community College: Virtual Fair. The college virtual fair is available to every Maine high school junior on March 19, 2008 at www.capitalize.com/school.fair from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The website will be activated that day. The fair will include brochures, application information, on-line presentations and financial aid information. Additional information regarding the Virtual Fair is available in the Guidance Office.
UPCOMING OPEN HOUSES
Central Maine Community College will host an Open House on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. ~ 1:00 p.m.
Southern Maine Community College will host their Open House on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 12 ~ 3:30 p.m.
The National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) is looking for students who are interested in attending their conference this summer 2008 in Washington, D.C. If you would like to be considered, please see Mrs. King or your guidance counselor.
The Portland Sea Dogs will host a college fair on April 16, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students must have a game ticket to attend the fair. Every student may get two (2) free tickets by contacting the ticket office. Over 50 private, state and community colleges will be in attendance. The Sea Dogs will also award a $500 scholarship to one student who attends during the middle of the fifth inning. More information is available in the Guidance Office.
ATHLETICS
There will be a meeting for all persons planning to play on the Golf Team this fall in Room 26 on Monday, March 24th at 2:00 with Coach Lamson.
The date of the SMAA Student-Athlete Summit is Tuesday, April 15th. Anyone interested in attending this leadership conference should apply in the Athletic Office by the end of the week. This is a great opportunity to interact with student-athletes from the other SMAA schools.
Pitchers and catchers will begin practice on Monday, March 31st. Softball has the gym from 2:30-4:00 and baseball from 4:00-5:30.
Music Notes
Congratulations to the members of the South Portland High School Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo for their award winning performances this past weekend at the Maine State Jazz Festival. The Jazz Combo, led by Blake Hawley - winner of an outstanding musicianship award, placed third in it's division. The Jazz Ensemble, led by outstanding musicianship award winners Blake Hawley and Albie Gingrich, scored 94.2 in the night finals, edging out Nokomis, Cony and Westbrook for 1st place. This marks the 9th time in 14 years SPHS has won this event.
There will be NO jazz combo today after school
Clubs and Intramurals
Intramural Fitness training will begin Monday after school in the weight room. All are welcome. Please see Mr. Hoy for details.
The Interact Dodgeball tournament is still on for next week but teams need to get their team forms into Ms. Major ASAP. Forms and money must be in by Tuesday or your team won't be able to compete in this amazing competition.
There will be a National Honor Society officers meeting Wed. after school in room 230 AND a meeting for all members after school Thursday at 2:00 in the same place
INTRAMURALS: This week in Intramurals is the last week for Dodgeball and Badminton. Come down to the gym and have fun while you can, 2:10-3:30.
Dodgeball: Monday - Wednesday - Friday
Badminton: Tuesday - Thursday
Fitness Training: Starts this week downstairs in the weight room at 2:10.
