Attention seniors who sold cinnamon rolls! Please don't forgot that the cinnamon orders need to be picked up by you this Thursday (3/20) right after school in the lower cafeteria. Please do not forgot because they will need to stay cold and get to freezer shortly after you pick them up. Thank you so much to those who sold the packets. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Sadly, the Interact dodge ball tournament has been postponed until further notice. There were not enough teams signed up but we hope to have the event later in the spring if possible. Thanks to all of those who showed interest!

Congratulations to Mr. Hunter's Future Business Leaders of America members who competed Monday and Tuesday at the State FBLA Leadership Convention. The following students received awards:

Nathan Marles was elected as Maine's State FBLA Reporter. He also placed 3rd in Word Processing II, 3rd in Help Desk, 2nd in Web Site Development, 1st in Management Information Systems, and 1st in Spreadsheet Applications.

Parker Gerrish was elected as the Maine's State Parliamentarian. He also placed 2nd in Web Site Development, 1st in Parliamentary Procedures, and 1st in Computer Applications.

Joe McGreehan placed 3rd in Computer Problem Solving, 3rd in Database Design and Application, 3rd in Cyber Security, and 2nd in Management Information Systems.

John Petitto placed 3rd in Personal Finance.

JC Esquibel placed 1st in the Job Interview competition.

Mr. Hunter will now be working with Nathan Marles, Parker Gerrish, and the other Maine State FBLA Officers as one of their State Advisors. These students are now eligible to compete at the National FBLA Leadership Convention in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of June. Congratulations!


Students tonight is the night for entertainment. Come to the lower cafe at 6:15/6:30 pm for some amazing student and staff performers. Tickets for the coffeehouse are $5 at the door. See you there!!!!

Maine Studies - There is a field trip today. Please meet in the gym breezeway at 10:40

The annual library book swap is the week of March 31st. Donate your good used books to the library for the book swap cart, and take books that you want from the cart starting March 31st.

GUIDANCE

College of the Atlantic is offering a summer program focusing on ecology and the culture of Down East Maine. This program will take place at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine from August 2-14. They are offering a $500 scholarship to one student from South Portland High School. Please see Mrs. King if you'd like to be considered for this program.

Also, please check the Summer Programs File in Guidance for a look at the many summer programs that are offered by colleges and universities across the country.


Sergeant Reyes from U.S. Marine Corps will be in the Guidance Office to meet with any interested students on today from 10:30 - 11:30. Passes are available in Guidance.

CAREER, TECHNICAL AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE: VIRTUAL FAIR

The Maine Department of Education will be hosting a Career, Technical and Community College: Virtual Fair. The college virtual fair is available to every Maine high school junior on March 19, 2008 at www.capitalize.com/school.fair from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The website will be activated that day. The fair will include brochures, application information, on-line presentations and financial aid information. Additional information regarding the Virtual Fair is available in the Guidance Office.

UPCOMING OPEN HOUSES

Central Maine Community College will host an Open House on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. ~ 1:00 p.m.

Southern Maine Community College will host their Open House on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 12 ~ 3:30 p.m.

ATHLETICS

There are many athletes on the try-out list for spring sports that have not turned in signed contracts to the Athletic Office. Please make sure these are submitted by Friday, March 21st.

The SMAA Student-Athlete Summit will take place on April 15th. Any athlete wishing to attend this leadership conference should apply in the Athletic Office this week.

Pitchers and catchers begin on Monday, March 24th

Music Notes

There will be a very important rehearsal at 2 PM for High School Musical TODAY for all students singing for the Lion's Club on Thursday night.

Call for Thursday is 6 PM in the chorus room. Performance from 7 PM - 7:30. We'll carpool. Driver's needed.

Adult/Staff/Alumni chorus will rehearse this week from 5:15-6:15 PM in the chorus room

Tri-M music honorary will meet after school on Friday in the chorus room. Remember to bring your $15.00 membership fee, if possible.


Clubs and Intramurals


Intramural Fitness training will begin Monday after school in the weight room. All are welcome. Please see Mr. Hoy for details.

There will be a National Honor Society officers meeting TODAY after school in room 230 AND a meeting for all members after school Thursday at 2:00 in the same place

INTRAMURALS: This week in Intramurals is the last week for Dodgeball and Badminton. Come down to the gym and have fun while you can, 2:10-3:30.
Dodgeball: Monday - Wednesday - Friday
Badminton: Tuesday - Thursday

ATTENTION BREAKDANCE CLUB MEMBERS: please bring your shirts and be prompt to class by 2:15 for pictures!! If you want to be in the picture you must be there with your shirt!

The Environmental Club will meet Thursday after school in Rm. 23. We will continue prepping the greenhouse and planning our Earth Day 2008 project. New members are welcome!

There will be a French Club meeting tomorrow at 2:00 in room 111. We will be featuring French cheeses and baguette!

HEMA Club will meet in the breezeway at 2:00


Interact members! T-shirts and sweatpants are in. Please stop by Ms. Major's room and pick up your new threads.
