Mandatory Senior Meeting — Cap and Gown Fitting

There will be a mandatory Senior Class Meeting after block 1 (8:55 am) on Tuesday, March 7th in the Auditorium.  Seniors will order their cap and gowns during this meeting and hear more about Project Graduation. 


There will be an important Interact meeting Tuesday, February 28th in the Lecture Hall. All members need to attend. We are also looking for volunteers for Monday, Feb. 27th and Tuesday, Feb. 28th for events at Small School. See Ms. Major if you can help.

Attention juniors and seniors:

Please check your school email in regards to an important message concerning NHS.  If you got an email, please report directly to the auditorium TODAY during home base to go over the application process. Let your home base teacher know today.   If you have any questions, please see Ms. Laplante in room 225.



Camp Ketcha is hiring summer camp counselors, program staff and lifeguards for their Summer Day Camp in Scarborough. Paid internships are also available. More information is available at http://campketcha.org/employment/.

 The Harlem Superstars Basketball Team will be playing an exhibition game on Tuesday, March 14th at 6:30. Come to the Beal Gym for a night of fun and entertainment, while supporting the Class of 2019. Stay tuned for more details.


The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholar/Essay

 Deadline is Wednesday, March 1st.  Applications are available in the athletic office.  One female and one male winner from Maine will receive a $250 scholarship from the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.  State winners are then eligible for a $1500 section scholarship with a chance for a $2500 national scholarship.  Completed applications should be returned to Mr. Livingston for submittal to the MIAAA. For more information please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Livingston in the athletic office.

Criteria for eligibility:

  1. Applicant must be a senior
  2. Applicant must have achieved at least two (2) of the following:

(A) minimum of B+ average;

(B) Ranked in the top 25% of class

(C) ACT score of 24 or an SAT score of 1100 (Math and Reading)

  1. Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport
  2. Applicant must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports
  3. Applicant must complete attached scholar/essay application
  4. Applicant must have a letter of recommendation from the high school athletic administrator/director
  5. School athletic director must be an NIAAA member and a member of their respective state athletic

Administrators association

  1. The principal or athletic director must sign the application to insure that the academic information

submitted is accurate

  1. All hard copy materials must be postmarked or electronic materials sent to the NIAAA State Liaison in

your respective state by your states deadline. (March 1st)

South Portland Junior Baseball & Softball is open to boys & girls ages 13-15.  If interested in playing, sign ups will be held on March 3rd from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club in South Portland.
