2018 Headlight Yearbook Sale
Discount yearbook order forms are available on the counter in the main office and will be accepted until September 29 and includes free icons if a student has their name engraved on the cover of their book. Students paying by cash or check (payable to SPHS) should return their order form and payment to the main office. Individuals wishing to order their yearbook paying with credit card should go to www.jostens.com Be sure to print your receipt if you order your yearbook online.
Seniors have until September 30 to submit their senior yearbook information form and their senior portrait (and optional baby or childhood photo) for the yearbook. Photos should be labeled with your name and placed into the yearbook box located on the counter in the main office. Blunt Youth Radio Project
Is seeking teens to join our year-round, free journalism and media production program! There will be an open house for interested teens and their parents. Visitors will see high school aged producers host and engineer a live talk show. Check it out on Monday, September 25, 7:00-8:30 pm at our studio at WMPG on the USM Portland Campus! The station address is 92 Bedford Street.
Seniors who have submitted application forms to participate in our Senior Internship program should be checking their school email accounts for a message from Mrs. Ferrante to learn when you have been scheduled for your initial interview.

CLUBS, TEAMS, INTRAMURALS
Intramurals: The weight room will open for the new school year starting after school from 2:35-4 p.m. with Mr. Greer. This is for all students and staff to come down and get your strong on.
Maker Meetup: come make with us! First meeting Monday 9/18 in room 246, the STEAM Studio.
DRAMA CLUB FUNDRAISER: 9/18 Mexican Monday! SPHS Drama Club is having a fundraiser at Chipotle by the Maine Mall on Monday, 9/18 from 5-9. Mention that you are there for the Drama Club and Chipotle will give us 50% of the proceeds!
After School Book Club: If any student is interested in joining an after- school book club, please see Mr. Brough over the next few days.
The Civil Rights Team will meet for the first time on Monday 09/18 after school in room 325. Current members are especially encouraged to attend (and bring a friend!) and new members are always welcome.
Outing Club: There will be an introductory meeting for the SPHS Outing Club on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2:30 in room 301. If you like to get outside, you’ll love it!
Spanish Club The Spanish Club meeting will now take place on THURSDAY right after school in room 355 (Sra. Esten’s room.)
INTERACT The Interact meeting scheduled for Tuesday will now be today, right after school in the Lecture Hall. See Ms. Major in room 303 if you can’t make it to pick up paperwork.
The 2017 South Portland High School Marching Band will kick off the season this Saturday, September 16th at Westbrook High School beginning at 6:00 p.m. Come cheer on the 11 time Award Winning Gold Medal Marching Band who will be playing selections from Has Zimmer, including “The Dark Knight,” “Gladiator,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Madagascar,,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and “The Lion King.”
Auditions forms for the SPHS Musical are now available in the Chorus room and Main office.
These forms must be filled out and signed by your parent/guardian in order to audition.
