READ IN-READ ON
During the month of February, students and staff are encouraged to read a book by an African-American author as part of the African-American Read-In. Please visit the Learning Commons to see a display of titles and to sign up with what book you are reading!

GUIDANCE
GUIDANCE-RYLA
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference) applications are available in the Guidance Office. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a leadership program that thousands of young people from around the country take part in every year. Sophomores who are selected for their leadership potential will attend an all-expense-paid camp to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. Camp activities include rope climbing, hiking, swimming and canoeing. RYLA is held at Camp Hinds, Raymond, ME from June 24-27, 2018. Applications for RYLA 2018 should be returned to the Guidance Office no later than
Friday, March 16, 2018.

Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program
Current Maine high school sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply for a nine-day backpacking trip in Baxter State Park in early August. This is an opportunity to study the wilderness through science, history, literature, and more. Applications are available at www.friendsofbaxterorg by the deadline of February 8.

Maine Clean Water Poster Contest
First Prize: $100.00
Who can enter? Maine Students Grades 1-12
What? A Poster no larger than 22”X28” illustrating what clean water means to you or why clean water is important to the State of Maine. Use Crayons, markers, paints or other format. (colorful posters are the judges favorites)
When? The poster is due by April 2.

ATHLETICS
Winter tournament schedules and results are now posted on the athletics web site. To view click the link under Athletic Announcements.
Girls and Boys basketball will host quarterfinal games on Wednesday, February 14th – Girls at 6:00 p.m. and Boys at 7:30 p.m. Because this is an MPA tournament game admission will be $5 adults, $3 students/seniors and passes for free admission will not be accepted

REDBANK TEEN CENTER
The Teen Center at the Redbank Community Center will be re-opening next week on a limited basis. The schedule for the month of February, beginning this week will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 3-5pm
The center will be closed over February break.

Clubs, Teams and Intramurals
Latin Club will meet today after school – it is critical that you be there for details about tomorrow, Wed and our upcoming trip to Boston.
Culture Club will be meeting this Wednesday at 2:30 in room 222.
InteractThere will be an Interact meeting after school TODAY in the Lecture Hall. All members please attend.
Short Drama Club meeting today @ 2:35 in the Auditiorium. Those who want to participate in the Maine One Act Festival must attend. Rehearsal to follow.
